Support the 2015 Mission Trip to Canal Point

The 2014 Canal Point Missions Team

The 2014 Canal Point Missions Team

Dear Family and Friends:

We’re going back! In June we are returning to Canal Point, Florida for the third time.

This year we are especially excited because two of our team members were able to make a winter trip to work in cooler weather and to help us make a plan for our summer projects so we can “hit the ground running” when we get there!

A before and after picture of one of the projects is included below. Previously we focused on the church building and grounds as well as the parsonage. This year our work projects will include needed improvements to church members’ homes.

Our youth and young adults will have the opportunity to serve the local Haitian Mission by hosting Vacation Bible School. Other outreach activities will include volunteering at the food pantry, serving at the community center, and visiting the elderly.

We would appreciate your prayers this year as we coordinate the logistics of our team of 21. We also ask for your financial support, as travel and construction supplies are costly. There are two ways you can make donations. You can write checks to HARP with Mission Team on the memo line or make an online contribution using the following link:

Sincerely,

2015 Mission Team

Canal Point 2014 Mission Trip – Thank You!

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you for once again for making it possible for our congregation to serve the Lord through missions work in Florida. It was a blessing to serve the people in Canal Point and encourage our friends, Bill and Beth Taylor, and their family in their ministry. The “muscle” on our team spent the week providing needed repairs to the exterior of the church, building a new porch and railing, as well as providing much needed improvements to the manse. We were able to spruce up the Sunday School rooms and fellowship hall with a fresh coat of paint, and we held Vacation Bible School at a local youth mission, as well as stuffed meal bags at the local food pantry. Everyone pitched in to remove furniture, clean, repair, and paint the guest house across the street that the church owns which helped turn the house into an asset rather than a liability for the church.

With the knowledge and experience gained from our trip last year and the feedback from the team, we had an even better idea of what we could get done and ways to be more effective and focused on this trip. We had two general contractors with us, allowing us to manage multiple jobs on the various sites simultaneously. Because of the way we arranged our transportation this year we had an additional truck for transporting construction materials and shifts of workers from site to site. Our schedule this year allowed us to have dinner together each night as a team with our resident elders leading devotions in the evening.

Now that we have made structural improvements to the church building, we look forward to returning next year to address needs of some of the members. We believe our presence and our efforts are providing encouragement to this congregation and helping them to maintain their church properties and homes.

Thanks again for your prayers and financial support. It allows us to participate in this good work with brothers and sisters in Christ. We are blessed to serve.

Team Florida

Support the 2014 Mission Trip to Canal Point

The 2013 Canal Point Missions Team

The 2013 Canal Point Missions Team

Greetings, fellow Brothers, Sisters, and Friends of HARP!

The Mission Team’s trip last summer to Canal Point, Florida was a source of tremendous blessing to Bill and Beth Taylor and to the Canal Point community. We were able to meet many needs, such as building a beautiful stone walkway to the fellowship hall, making significant structural repairs to the sanctuary, cleaning the Sunday School rooms and nursery, and performing much needed repairs to the manse where the Taylors live. The youth were also able to package food at the local food pantry, visit a Haitian Mission, deliver baked goods to shut-ins and assist with their Vacation Bible School. (To see what we did, you can watch last year’s Mission Video at the bottom of this post!)

This year, we have twenty three team members who plan to revisit Canal Point. We are excited about the work we will be able to accomplish and we want you to be a part of it! The total cost per person is $1,500, with a team goal of $30,000. Please prayerfully consider making a donation in support of our efforts.

We covet your prayers for every detail of this endeavor. Last year we faced many obstacles before, during, and after the trip. Among them were surgery, illness, injury, permit problems and plagues like frogs, locusts and torrential rain! Despite these challenges, we were able to serve our Lord and help others. In the coming weeks you will have the opportunity to pray for each of the team members through updates in the weekly Worship bulletin.

Thank you for your generous support and encouragement.
